Non-smoker employees awarded with a perk by an employer

‘Smoking is injurious to Health’ ~ This is what we all have heard all our life long, seen in the films and it is even clearly mentioned in the packet of Cigarette.

But, who cares. People just ignore it and doesn’t give a shit about it. In our generation, most of the youth is totally into it. Some have an addiction to smoking while some are chain smokers.

All those who enjoy sipping the puff are always advised not do it and today I am here to tell you another benefit of Quitting Smoking. Yes, you read it right.

When in one of the Japanese company the Non-Smoker employees complained about their smoker co-workers taking an extra break for a cigarette, the employer gave them a perk for which all working people including me crave for.

The issue these non-smokers had that they work more as compare to smoker employee works. The office of the company is located on the 29th floor and every time a smoker worker had to smoke will have to take the busy lift to reach to the basement which means the time of 15 minutes per smoker. For all this, the Tokyo-based Piala Inc. had the best solution.

A spokesperson for the company said “One of our non-smoking staff put a message in the company suggestion box earlier in the year saying that smoking breaks were causing problems.” to which he explained by saying “Our CEO saw the comment and agreed, so we are giving non-smokers some extra time off to compensate.”

The company gave all of them an extra 6 days of paid holiday per year. Isn’t it a great news. The company blessed the employees with this gift in September.

The CEO of Piala Inc, Takao Asuka, says, “I hope to encourage employees to quit smoking through incentives rather than penalties or coercion.” Since this system has taken effect, 30 of the company’s 120 employees have taken additional days off.

21.7 percent of Japanese adults are into smoking according to the World Health Organization statistics.

I think the company gave the best solution to the problem of the employees. Rather than a penalty or some sort of punishment, the employer had taken a great initiative and attracting the nonsmokers towards quitting cigarettes.

Smoking harms the human body badly and along with giving an invitation to many diseases.

So, I request you to Quit it.
