Women have indeed reached beyond the skies!
Indian Armed Forces – the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force are the forces of the Republic of India. Well, when we are talking about Republic Indian forces, we on the same side witnessed few numbers of women in the forces.
The Indian Navy is the naval branch of the Indian Armed Forces and its Supreme Commander is the President of India. The Chief of Naval Staff, a four-star Admiral, commands the navy.
But, today is very important for every Indian citizen especially women, because the search for a woman pilot has ended with the Shubhangi Swaroop will be the selection of first-ever woman pilot of Indian Navy, who will be piloting a maritime reconnaissance aircraft.
However, with Shubhangi Swaroop, three women cadets are also making their name in the history, as Astha Segal, Roopa A and Sakthi Maya S become the first women officers at the Naval Armament Inspectorate.
As we know women have been a crucial part of the Indian Navy’s aviation branch but only as air traffic control officers and guards in the aircraft.
But, she is the first women who will fly planes in the navy and proofs sky is no more a limit for women! She will undergo training at the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad.
Shubhangi is from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh and a daughter of the naval commander. Well, it is well-said the father is the real hero for daughter and Mr. Swaroop is the example of it.
According to the Daily News And Analysis (DNA), she said, “I know, this is not just an exciting opportunity but a great responsibility also.”
“On successful completion of training, the three women fighter pilots will be commissioned into the fighter stream in December this year,” Chief of Air Staff BS Dhanoa had said.
He further added that “their performance has been on par with other pilots despite the strenuous and demanding nature of flying”.
The Indian Navy originated back to the East India Company’s Marine which was founded in 1612 to protect British merchant shipping in the region. And, we hope more women from our country make us proud and inspire upcoming generation to happily serve the country.
