“Stories like these don’t come often”
It was a moment of pride for all Indians when we came to know a good news that Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘Newton’ is India’s official entry to the Oscars. The Movie is based on the set up of polling booth during elections in the Maoist-invaded areas of Chhattisgarh. I have watched the film in person and it really showed me the mirror of election’s harsh reality.
Brilliant star cast and unique story plot did win the heart of the viewers. It garnered huge acknowledgment & pride in Indian cinema when the film made its place in Oscars.
In the 67th Berlin International Film Festival, the film got a standing ovation and Rajkummar Rao got the Jury’s choice for the Best Film at the Hong Kong International Film Festival.

However, the happiness was short lived when Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Thursday declared that in the Foreign Language film category, 9 films have reached to the final category and Newton is out of the race.
Despite Newton being out of the cue, I am still proud of it for all the good reasons. The storytelling and plot of the movie at global level won the attention and glory.
On January 23, 2018, the final 5 will be announced.
