“The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. We can help write that story by setting goals.” – Melody Beattie
The year 2018 is started and with the beginning of this new year, we’ve got a great time to make a new pile of our goals and aspirations. A plan or whatever! Who cares? You and just you! Make a plan, work on it, stay put! Because it’s rather the best time to set your goals either with or without a plan. It’s high time you want to elevate your life on a certain path.
And setting your goals can include just anything. Whether you’re aiming to be more organized at work or you want a new job or promotion. Maybe you’re looking to start a healthier lifestyle. Regardless of what you want to accomplish, you just have to start it right now! And there’s no better day than today, that is the day of new year, new beginnings, new goals, new accomplishments.
So, here we are today to help you set it all right and take control. Be a successful person in 2018, it’s your time; go get it!
1. Build your vision
You may call this the ‘foundational step’ or the very first step which is to get clear on what is most important to you. This is all about figuring out what you want out of this year of your life.
2. Work on accomplishing your goal
If you have a compelling vision and you know why you need that in your life, you need to create a relevant plan that allows you to take action in the most effective way possible towards that vision. So, get going! Work, work, work.
3. Keep track of your commitments
If you’re looking to gain more recognition for your job or your health or anything that you’ve set a goal for, then keeping track is extremely important. A good idea to do that is rather than running the risk of forgetting a task, use a sticky note or app to jot down the things that should occupy your schedule.
4. Allow yourself to fail again
Now, here you need to understand the basic difference between Failing and Quitting. Quitting means you’re done, you tried to realize your vision, eventually, no longer felt you could hit your goal and decided not to leave it. Whereas failing means you tried to accomplish some aspect of your dream or goal and didn’t. With failing, you have the opportunity to try again another way.
5. Listen to your heart
Listening to your heart isn’t easy, but the more you learn to quiet the mind through meditation or by simply listening to your intuition regularly, the more refined your ability to hear when you’re trying to tell yourself something.
6. Implement a two-minute rule
If your goal for 2018 is to get better at maximizing your time and managing your schedule, then implementing the two-minute rule is a habit you’ll want to adopt now. With this rule, any action that can be carried out in two minutes or less is completed right away.
