Where are we lacking?
Technology has brought the human race into the time of unexpected advancement. From talking on the landline to seeing the person while talking, from finding anything on the internet to shopping stuff sitting only at one place. Everything has been improving to its better and all have been made possible by the creativity.
Although, there are much more in the line other than what we have achieved. Being a developing country, our nation needs to go a long way to reach the fullest potential. And all these can be made possible by a good and innovative education system. However, we can’t say this in case of our nation as our education system does very little to help. And this has been said by an expert.
The Apple’s co-founder, Woz (Steve Wozniak) was in Delhi for the ET Global Business Summit where while talking to Times of India, he spoke about the possibilities about a breakthrough in the Indian tech sector:
“I am not an anthropologist and I don’t know the culture of India well enough. I don’t see those big advances in tech companies here. “
Woz even gave the example of Infosys which provides IT consulting services and maintained that he just see it happening. “What is the biggest tech company here, Infosys maybe? I just don’t see that sort of thing coming out of Infosys and I have done keynotes for them three times,” he also said.
Further, he drew the attention of everyone towards the problems which are hindering the growth of the country in tech field. He said:
“The culture here is one of success based upon academic excellence, studying, learning, practising and having a good job and a great life. For upper India, not the lower. I see two Indias. “
“That’s a lot like Singapore study, study, work hard and you get an MBA, you will have a Mercedes but where is the creativity?”
Woz continued saying:
“The creativity gets left out when your behaviour is too predictable and structured, everyone is similar. Look at a small country like New Zealand, the writers, singers, athletes, it’s a whole world.”
Woz’s idea can be argued that many Indians in spite of their talent, do not get an ample opportunity to show their creativity. However, this is the image our nation in the eyes of West.
