Manu Bhaker is a girl who made every Indian proud as she etched her name in the history books by clinching two golds at the International Shooting Sports Federation World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico.
On Sunday, at ISSF world cup Manu became world’s third youngest shooter to win a World Cup gold. 16-year-old, Manu is a shooter from Haryana’s Jhajjar becomes the youngest Indian ever to win a gold medal at the shooting World Cup.
In an interview given to The Times of India, she said:
This medal will motivate me to reach greater heights in the future and I dedicate this to my family and coaches, who have been supportive throughout.
However, when Manu’s father asked about her achievement, he said:
“She got her first pistol only after days of her trying the sport for the first time. She is dedicated and I knew if she is asking me to invest in something, she will not take the sport lightly.”
Back in 2006 and 2013, this position was held by Rifle shooter Gagan Narang and pistol shooter Rahi Sarnobat. And, now she won the gold at women’s 10m air pistol event at the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Cup.
