I have been to Banaras a couple of times, and what I found most compelling about the city is its old world charm. The city boasts of huge temples, Ghats and even Mosques on the ghats alongside river Ganges. The evening Ganga Aarti makes the city even more charming.
When I first landed in the city, it was overly crowded and the rush was unbearable. Add to the dust and dirt around, it was almost difficult to stay in the city.
But, just after a few days, the city touched my heart. And why? Because there’s a kind of spiritual calm in the air and peace is just so contagious.
Interestingly, Banaras is the oldest city in the world. What I found most interesting about Banaras is its thin lanes throughout the city and the soft accents of the people. There’s a calm and composure in the way people speak and mix up with locals.

Banaras is also called the city of lights because of its historic connect with spirituality and enlightenment.
Banaras is more than what just meets the eye! It’s a city of beauty, knowledge, embrace and true spirituality.
People call it a city of lights because people from all over the world come here in search of the hidden treasure. The treasure called knowledge and wisdom. And that’s what Banaras has.
